About Us
Colonial: Built on the Foundation of Granja Pocha
Granja Pocha was founded on October 1, 1980, in the heart of the Río de la Plata dairy region, in Juan Lacaze, Colonia, Uruguay. From day one, we have focused on what we consider essential: quality, continuous training, and investment in cutting-edge technology. These three pillars have driven us to achieve every one of our goals.
We started by crafting our now award-winning dulce de leche, a staple on Uruguayan tables. Over time, we expanded our product line, which now includes cheeses, milk, cream, yogurts, and desserts.
Since 2013, all our products proudly bear the Colonial brand, reflecting our roots and the authenticity of the flavors we offer. Innovation has been key to our growth, enabling us to launch Uruguay’s first vegan yogurt and to pioneer the market with the first lactose-free yogurt and cheese lines.
Our daily commitment has allowed us to meet the most demanding national and international standards, enabling us to share the authentic taste of Uruguay with the world.

Our Processing Plant
Located in Uruguay’s premier dairy region, in the southern part of Colonia, our plant benefits from optimal natural conditions for dairy production. Originally established decades ago, the facility underwent two major expansions in 2013 and 2017, with the latter adding 3,000 m². Today, it boasts a daily processing capacity of 200,000 liters of milk.
